Brie Larson has been at the center of much controversy throughout the year. Ever since she was cast in the role of Captain Marvel, rumours and controversies haven’t left her side. But did Avengers really hate working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel?
Brie Larson is, arguably, the controversy queen (Captain) of Marvel. Though her character was welcomed with open arms by fans, for various reasons she was not. In fact, if you are a Marvel fan and you watched the end credits of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, you must have been more than thrilled to know that Captain Marvel is coming to town.
So what went so wrong? Was working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel really a bad experience for the Avengers?
Despite popular belief and behind-the-scene pictures of Brie Larson hugging other cast members lovingly, we cannot deny the fact that there was a time that Marvel fans just refused to like her. All of a sudden, after the Brie Larson controversy, videos of people from the cast of ‘Avengers: End Game’ started quoting that they loved working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel.
Somehow, the timing of these seems like they are controlling a damage that has already been done.
Before the rumor that Avengers hated working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel became a fact, Marvel reverted all of the damages done.
The two platforms who were (very) unhappy with Brie Larson (and showed their hatred without a hiccup) were YouTube and Reddit. While the Captain Marvel film was yet to release, fans expressed their anguish on Reddit and Rotten Tomatoes. The comments were filled with so much hatred that Rotten Tomatoes blocked people from commenting as the backlash was clearly putting the film’s future in jeopardy.
But what led to such hatred?
Brie Larson was the center of controversy because she misused her “powers” (or some might say used) as Captain Marvel. She talked about the increasing “white male” influence in Hollywood. To explain her words she told IndieWire, “I do not need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work for him about A Wrinkle in Time.” Well, reviews do matter! Whether they are from a 40-year-old ‘white male dude’ or a ‘teens of colour’.
Brie Larson has tried to come out of this controversy many a times. But then, words once said cannot be taken back, can they? This raised a big question that constantly made fans scratch their heads: Is Brie Larson trying to be a toxic feminist or a female superhero as Captain Marvel?
Yes! Fans were pretty much not satisfied with Brie Larson’s acting. If you have watched the Captain Marvel movie, do you agree? Share with us here.
And this leads us to the most important question:
Do Avengers hate working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel?
The answer is a foggy yes.
Foggy because Don Cheadle (Marvel’s War Machine) came to the rescue when the Brie Larson controversy caught fire. He was very clear when he said that all this was just detective guess work. But if one were to go through that “detective guess work”, it would become clear that the Avengers surely did not like working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel.
The poofs focus on weird body language and words that were said out loud in various interviews.
Brie Larson controversy seems more than just a bundle of rumours when one hears her co-actors’ words. And at that point, all the cover ups fail to cover it up!
Sharing their experience on working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel, her co-actors slipped up. In the same interview that Chris Hemsworth (Marvel’s Thor) says he loves Brie Larson, he also had an argument with her. In fact, in the same interview, Don Cheadle also had an awkward moment with the Captain Marvel actress. He mouths the words, “I told you not to touch me.” Oops!
Brie Larson must hate that one interview since it creates so much controversy. Brie also claims in this interview that she does not use stunt doubles. But hey, guess who has a stunt double!
World’s Most Awkward Interview
And guess what, this was nothing compared to the awkward moment she had with Jeremy Renner! Jeremy said, “Celebrity is not something that I use as any sort of platform to be more responsible or accountable.” Ummhmm. Working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel was surely not a cakewalk for Hawkeye.
Well, that’s not all. It seems like MCU itself is not so happy about casting Brie Larson (given so many controversies that keep coming up). In fact, not only Brie Larson, allegedly, the Russo Brothers were avoiding bringing Captain Marvel to the screen screen. But MCU and Disney were too desperate to bring out Captain Marvel from the comic books. While she did not make it to Infinity War, she did come in to fight Thanos in Endgame.
These are just a handful of controversy that Brie Larson is surrounded with. While none of us have actually worked with the actress, the interviews, rumours and stories certainly do not land in her favour.
At the end of the day, working with Brie Larson and Captain Marvel was not the best of days for Marvel’s Avengers. Do you agree? Or are you of a different opinion? Share your views with us.
