Brie Larson and ‘Captain Marvel’ fans are having their day after the unexpected box office failure of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’. Twitter is on fire, following the movie’s controversial reception and failure.
Some of these tweets pointed out that ‘Captain Marvel’s’ failure isn’t because the movie was bad but due to the fact that movies aren’t liked if they have a female lead, as it has happened in the case of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’.

‘Wonder Woman’ failure amuses Brie Larson’s fans
Keeping in line with the trend, Brie Larson alone crossed 2k tweets while ‘Captain Marvel’ has over 9k tweets. Some of the tweets were really severe, stating that ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is worse than ‘Captain Marvel’. It is likely that the Gal Gadot starrer ‘Wonder Woman’ is facing such harsh remarks because the first ‘Wonder Woman’ movie was so good and the expectations from this movie were really high.

‘Captain Marvel’ was fated to fail but it is shocking for ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ to have such a poor reception. The Rotten Tomatoes score of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ was 89%, which was a clear example of shill reviews. After the movie was released, the regular reviews on Rotten Tomatoes restricted ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ to a score of 65%. It must be noted that Rotten Tomatoes also rebooted things for ‘Captain Marvel’ by posting paid positive reviews on its platform to neutralize the negative remarks. We are wondering if they would do the same for ‘Wonder Woman’.
‘Captain Marvel’ rumours trashed forever with sequel announcement
The ending year brought some delightful news for fans of Brie Larson. ‘Captain Marvel’ sequel was confirmed by Kevin Feige at the recent Disney Investor Day presentation. It is now believed that it will tie into the Disney Plus Secret Invasion series along with ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘WandaVision’.
Nia DaCosta tweeted, “Tag me, you cowards“, following the Marvel announcements from Kevin Feige and the official confirmation that DaCosta is directing ‘Captain Marvel 2’. Later, it turned out that Nia DaCosta was simply having some fun with the ‘Captain Marvel 2’ controversy. She tweeted again explaining that she was just having fun on Twitter, “Tweeted this and was like, ‘Oh no, what people don’t know I’m joking’”. It seems pretty clear from this Twitter post by DaCosta that the rumours and theories around Brie Larson and ‘Captain Marvel’ has reached hers and Marvel’s ears. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have tweeted what she tweeted.
“Disney isn’t at all happy with Brie Larson and might replace Larson following ‘Captain Marvel 2’”, was the rumour doing the rounds prior to Disney Investor Day. A big rumour that set the web on fire was that the character might retire completely from MCU.
Later, every rumour was trashed after Marvel announced the sequel. Here are some of the tweets that have erupted majorly after ‘Wonder Woman’s’ failure and the announcement of ‘Captain Marvel 2‘. ‘Captain Marvel’ fans are happy to have found a company in Gal Gadot and ‘Wonder Woman’ fans. Both the movies have failed at the box office.
