Twitter looked polarized last week, with thousands of Brie Larson fans defending ‘Captain Marvel’ even as the haters followed their tradition and continued to criticize the actor.
‘Captain Marvel‘ and Brie Larson aren’t alien to trends and trolls on Twitter and other social media platforms. However, it’s quite rare to see people actually coming out in support of Brie Larson and tweeting their hearts out on how much they admire her and the role of the Marvel superhero she plays. The Christmas week saw something similar happening as Brie and ‘Captain Marvel’ trended on Twitter while the trolls and fans fought for their grounds. Let’s have a look at what started the trend, and who won this battle between pro-Brie and anti-Brie.

- Twitter is forever bitter for Brie Larson and Captain Marvel
- Here’s how the fans showered love – and hate on Captain Brie

Will Twitter ever see a day’s peace till Brie Larson and Captain Marvel are around?
Twitter is forever bitter for Brie Larson and ‘Captain Marvel’
Brie Larson is largely known for two things. On one hand lies ‘Room’ (2015), ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’, ‘Short Term’, and on the other hand lies ‘Captain Marvel’, woke Brie Larson, her YouTube channel, and a lot of controversies. It’s perfectly balanced, as all things should be (obviously, pun-intended). All this constantly keeps Brie in the limelight. Every other day on Twitter, either she is being trashed for something she said and did, or is being praised for the same.

Recently, Brie was again trending on Twitter, and while we noticed the presence of haters, the majority of the trending tweets were from Brie’s fans. The trend started as Brie’s fans realized that Gal Gadot’s highly anticipated ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ had turned out to be worse than ‘Captain Marvel’, at least as far as ratings are concerned. This has led many fans to re-evaluate the wrath they had been carrying for years against Brie and ‘Captain Marvel’.
Here’s how the fans showered love – and hate on Captain Brie
It was weird to see Captain Marvel and Brie Larson trending on Twitter after DCEU’s ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ release. But, the fact that ‘WW 1984’, a sequel to ‘Wonder Woman’, one of the best female superhero led movies, was a big letdown, gave ‘Captain Marvel’ fans an opportunity to prove that failures are a part of the journey, and it doesn’t mean Brie and the character should be bullied forever. While the haters followed their tradition by bullying Captain Marvel and Brie Larson:

Brie has been trending often lately
Brie Larson and ‘Captain Marvel’ were trending on Twitter throughout the month, Gal Gadot and ‘Wonder Woman 1984’s failure were just one of the many reasons. A couple of weeks ago, YouTuber Doomcock made a statement that Disney, Marvel, and Fiege are looking to recast ‘Captain Marvel’ and get rid of Brie Larson.
He also quoted several sources and referred to the failure of Brie’s YouTube channel as one of the reasons behind this decision. Considering all the hate and negativity surrounding Brie Larson, every news of her being shown out of Disney seems reasonable, and thus people trusted this report, and Brie was once again trending. However, the anti-Brie trend was soon crossed by an overwhelming pro-Brie trend as Marvel announced ‘Captain Marvel 2’ starring Brie Larson.
The announcement consisted of the new release date confirmation of ‘Captain Marvel 2’ i.e. Nov. 11, 2022. Marvel also announced that Nia DaCosta will be directing the upcoming all-women superhero movie, and the movie will also star Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. This followed with a Captain Marvel-style tweet from Brie and a rather potentially controversial tweet from Nia DaCosta. That’s how Brie Larson and Captain Marvel trended for the entire month on Twitter, either for this or that. It’s interesting how in one moment the entire platform is pro-Brie and, in another it’s anti-Brie. We doubt if it’s the same people defending and striking the ball (haha).
