Breaking Bad series ran for 5 seasons from 2008 to 2013. The final season saw the death of one of the main characters — Heisenberg a.k.a. Walter White. It was a perfect end to a perfect story. But the TV Series had such a fan following that viewers could not accept the end of the series. Ever since 2013, there were hoax reports of a next season in the series. It was only in 2019, that the makers decided to give in and make a follow-up movie centered on the characters that are still alive.
El Camino — A Bad movie?
‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad movie’ created a massive frenzy among fans when actors who played Jesse Pinkman and Walter White started teasing fans with pictures on Instagram.
Fans had a lot of hopes from the movie. The return of Vince Gilligan in the shoes of writer-director added to all the fire and fury attached to the movie. ‘El Camio: A Breaking Bad movie’ finally released on Netflix on October 11, 2019. But sadly, it lacked the ingredients that it would take for a great Breaking Bad movie. It was a good movie, but not good enough from a Breaking Bad benchmark.

The movie has a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.4 on IMDb. But this is nothing compared to the TV series which has a 9.5 IMDb score. The movie’s storyline traces Jesse Pinkman who is on the run after the events of 2013’s finale. Aaron Paul pulls off Jesse Pinkman with perfection. In fact, all the actors have their best game. But still, the movie lacks the element of surprise — it does not take any risks.
Can Heisenberg be brought back to life?
Walter White a.k.a. Heisenberg’s character was one of the key elements that made Breaking Bad iconic. His character will surely multiply the audience’s interest in Breaking Bad season 6. But he died in Breaking Bad season 5’s finale. If there was any benefit of doubt that could have brought him back, it was killed with ‘El Camino’ confirming that Walter White (Heisenberg) is really DEAD. So, how then, can he be brought back?
Well, one way could be to never really bring him back to life. So, Heisenberg could instead come back as memories or flashbacks (just like in the movie). But in a perfect world, Walter White would be alive and in hiding.
While, Jesse Pinkman was on the run in the Breaking Bad movie— parallelly— Walter White might have been in hiding too. Well, we all know that the chemist is pretty clever and can pull off hiding without anyone doubting it.
Reasons that lead us to believe that there will be a Breaking Bad Season 6
Will there be a Breaking Bad Season 6? In all probability— yes, there will be one. If there was a need for a season 6 of the Breaking Bad TV series before the El Camino movie, the need is even more after it.
El Camino had a massive scope for becoming a record-breaking movie and its failure to do so has increased the chances and hopes for a fulfilling and successful season 6 of Breaking Bad. Here are four reasons which made the audience believe in El Camino in the first place —
- It had already developed characters.
- There was a huge and already established fan base.
- All the Breaking Bad fans were desperately waiting for the movie.
- It even had the same writer-director who made the TV series one of the greatest ones.

To summarise, with a budget of over $6 million, El Camino had the potential of grossing at least tens of millions.
But at the end of the day, El Camino feels ‘unnecessary’ in its current form.
This reason alone lays the ground for a Breaking Bad season 6.
Moreover, even if El Camino was a half-decent attempt, we did get a Breaking Bad movie despite no hopes for it. In an interview with The Guardian, Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman actor) talked about his role in El Camino, “I thought we finished that story six years ago. And now I zipped on the skin again.”
So, all the Breaking Bad fans, season 6 is not a long far-fetched dream but a possible reality.
