Everyone’s favourite law enforcement family – The Reagans
‘Blue Bloods’ is a series about a special family with each member serving the law enforcement. Led by patriarch Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), a police commissioner, the series revolves around him and his eldest son, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), a detective in the NYPD, daughter Erin (Bridget Moynahan), an assistant district attorney, his youngest son Jamie (Will Estes), an NYPD sergeant, and his late second son, Joe, who was killed by a corrupt policeman during an FBI investigation he was involved with.
The show follows the Reagans, both in their professional as well as personal settings. It also focuses on their relationships, which are often with people they work alongside. Family dynamics is at the heart of this show, in the backdrop of battling crime. Over the years, this Irish-Catholic family has become America’s favourite crime-fighting group because of its penchant for morality, rectitude, and nobility.
The series is high on drama as well as action and has even received tax breaks from the state of New York for its upstanding portrayal of a family dedicated to protecting its city.
Season 11 is being anticipated with unprecedented vigour
The season 10 finale, “Family Secrets” has laid such a solid foundation for the upcoming season that the excitement surrounding it is completely understandable. The finale introduces the audiences to Joe Hill (Will Hochman), the long-lost son of Frank’s deceased son, Joe. Hill is a detective in the firearms unit of the NYPD and no one in the Reagan family, including his deceased father, has known of his existence. The family gets to know of his being when Frank’s grandson, Sean (Andrew Terraciano), is working on a project related to family history and stumbles upon this information. The last scene in the finale episode shows Hill joining the rest of the family on their traditional Sunday dinner.
Hinting at how important this character is going to be in the upcoming season, executive producer Kevin Wade has said, “For Joe Hill, is it best for him to have a great-grandfather and a grandfather who are police commissioners, one uncle who’s a very famous NYPD detective, another who’s an NYPD sergeant, and an aunt who is high up in the District Attorney’s office? It would completely change how everybody he worked with looked at him and related to him”.

Season 11 – Everything we know yet
Season 10 ended a couple of episodes early due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. But this has allowed ‘Blue Bloods’ to use the material that they were about to develop and get a head-start with the new plotline involving Joe Hill.
“We have a number of things involving this Joe Hill thing that we already had in motion that we will revisit in Season 11”, expressed Kevin Wade.
The series will air sometime in 2021 as per sources, but the exact date hasn’t been decided yet. There are a lot of things that the next season will reveal including Joe Reagan’s past, Joe Hill’s story, and the impact of his existence on the rest of the Reagan family.
With such a strong end to the previous season, it is obvious that fans can’t wait to see what will happen next on the show and are just hoping that season 11 will have enough revelations to blow their minds.
