Two million people are on street in protest
This is being termed as the largest protest in the history of Hong Kong. As many as two million people are in protest. It started with a bill by the Chinese government. The bill would have allowed extradition from Hong Kong to mainland China.
Hong Kong still on streets against extradition bill
Despite the bill’s suspension, masses are turning out in huge numbers. Most of the protestors are youth. They are not accepting apologies made by Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam for proposing the bill in the first place.
Moreover, the protesters are demanding that the bill must be scrapped off. Just suspending it would not be a solution.
Many of them are in fear as they think that the Chinese influence over Hong Kong is increasing. They are demanding Carrie Lam’s resignation.
