Even though the gang of Big Bang Theory has never been apart, the show might be coming back with not all but one of the leading star cast.
Are we ready to see the group not together?
Big Bang Theory: The Ending
Even though the end of The Big Bang Theory saw all characters arcs coming to a satisfying conclusion and giving the fans closure before saying goodbye, not all were so lucky.
Sheldon Cooper with his wife Amy Farrah Flower not only won a Nobel Prize and fulfilled all his life-long dream, Sheldon was doing better than he ever had at the end of the show. Leonard and Penny were seen taking their marriage to the next step when Penny announced that she was expecting a baby.
And Howard and Bernadette are shown very well settled in marriage bliss with kids and successful and fulfilling jobs to keep them satisfied and happy. The only end which was left open-ended for the audience to run wild with imagination was of the Astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali.
Why does it never end well for Raj?
Raj Koothrappali: The Loveable Underdog
Fans of The Big Bang Theory feel that the show’s writers were not fair when it came to Raj’s happily ever after.
In the last few episodes of Big Bang Theory we see Raj decide that he is going to move to London to be with his girlfriend, Anu. Raj, who has not only been in love with rom-coms pretty much his entire life but has also envisioned his life being like one. And if you think about it, he does get his very own rom-com moment when Howard runs to the airport to stop his friend from moving to London. (While quoting Notting Hill)
And despite taking Sarah Michelle Geller as his platonic date (who he meets in a plane) to the Award Ceremony where Sheldon and Amy win the Nobel Prize, Raj ends up alone.
But is that really a bad thing?
Is ending up with someone romantically really what is going to fulfil you as a person? Raj does find love. He finds the love from his soul mate, Howard, who is his best friend. He finds love form his close friends. So no, Raj didn’t really end up alone.
Raj Coming Back With A Bang In Season 13
While the series finale of Big Bang Theory could have ended with Raj finding love and settling down, that is the opposite from the message the writers of Big Bang Theory were trying to tell us. Raj learns a lot from his relationship with Anu but the most important one- Never Settle.
And Season 13 of Big Bang Theory will see the new evolved Raj Koothrappali taking on the world without the fear of ending up alone. And that is what is in the card for the future of Big Bang Theory.
And while we miss the gang together perhaps a cameo here and there will always be an open invitation for Raj’s best friend Howard and the rest of his extended family.
Because isn’t that the best kind of love there is?
