Black Friday will be bringing in many treats for superhero fans. DC’s quirky Harley Quinn’s animated series will premiere and kick start an awe-filled weekend. But it seems the animated Harley Quinn is going to wait to introduce the world with her bisexual side.

When it comes to Harley Quinn, all things are meant to be quirky and bonkers (whether it be animated Quinn, comic Quinn or Hollywood Quinn). The same goes for DC’s new animated Harley Quinn TV series that is all set to premiere tomorrow. Now let us warn you, this “animated” series is not meant for kids, it is an adult-oriented one.
The Plot of Harley Quinn TV Series
The much-awaited story of the Suicide Squad member features Kaley Cuoco (Harley Quinn) as she tries to reinvent herself. She has called it quits with her equally crazy boyfriend, ‘The Joker’. Now that Harley is single, fans want her to kick off the much-anticipated romantic relationship with Poison Ivy. But, there is a but.
In an interview with CBR, the creators of the Harley Quinn TV series were open to exploring her sexuality. Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker talked about the possibility of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s romance. But on the other hand, they also hope that fans will remain “patient”.
So, Justin Halpern quoted: “Without giving too much away, that was something we wanted to explore. I won’t tell you what happens. But yeah, that’s certainly was of interest to us.” We hope you noticed the numbers of “was” and the bleak possibility of a romance between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy was evident to you too.
Still in love with Joker?
Fans of Harley Quinn know how much she was crazily in love with The Joker. Now that she is fresh out of the relationship for her animated TV series, Harley Quinn will take some time to ignite a new romantic relationship with Poison Ivy. (Maybe that is a love story for another season)
Harley Quinn’s romantic relationship with Poison Ivy is a story for another season.
Justin Harplen explained this. “It was important for us in Season 1 to not get her out of a relationship and then suddenly get her into another one. We wanted it to just be about this self-discovery and not self-discovery in terms of how I validate myself through other people. In the first season, we sort of stay away from too much of her being romantically involved in anything.”
The Harley Quinn TV series will be a 13 episode watch. While it might disappoint you that Harley Quinn is not going to romance Poison Ivy, we believe it is important to not overlook the fact that the creators are setting up the character patiently. A haphazard story line might have killed the fun and logic in the series. But we do hope that the “patience” is awarded in the longer run.
Also on the other hand, what if Harley Quinn finds her love leading her back to The Joker? In that case, it will be a long while before she comes out of the closet on the screen. After all, it is highly ambiguous whether Harley Quinn will romance Poison Ivy in the upcoming Hollywood movie, Birds of Prey, or not.
