They added that she is obsessed with maintaining her public image at any cost. Johnny’s lawyers said that she was living and breathing this role for years now and that in court, she was delivering the performance of a lifetime. The entire case began with Amber Heard accusing Depp of domestic abuse and filing a case for the same. While the proceedings were already underway and the court had yet to settle on a verdict, she wrote an opinion piece in 2018 in Washington Post. In the article, she claimed to be the public face of domestic violence. It irritated Johnny Depp, who has repeatedly denied serious allegations of domestic violence against his ex-wife.

During the opening arguments, Depp’s lawyer stated that her client was the victim of the abuse, not the other way around. Camille Vasquez, Depp’s lawyer, launched a scathing attack on Heard, accusing her of playing a public role, that of a victim. She went on to say that she was obsessed with her image and that she lied. In response, Heard’s attorney claimed that Depp was out to ruin her life and career. Ben, her lawyer, also stated that Johnny had abused her mentally, physically, and emotionally throughout their marriage.
Christi Dembrowski, Depp’s sister, was the first witness called to the stands. She claimed that her brother was a gentle and loving person. She went on to say that despite their difficult childhood, Johnny was never violent. She added that Heard had insulted Johnny on many occasions.
Amber went on to say on Instagram that she was hurt and that she was forced to relive her haunting past life.
She also stated that she has always had feelings for Johnny. Approximately 120 witnesses from both parties will testify during the seven-week trial. Both actors’ careers are getting harmed as the case becomes more heinous.
