Casting updates of ‘Line of Duty’ Season 6
Martin Compston (Steve Arnott), Adrian Dunbar (Ted Hastings), and Vicky McClure (Kate Fleming) are series regulars and are all confirmed to return for the next season. Jed Mercurio, the writer, and showrunner is also back on board. We can expect the new season to have many twists and turns, since Mercurio is writing, and to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. The cast of ‘Line of Duty’ had a reunion in a pub at the end of November, where we heard Compston already making jokes about Steve’s infamous waistcoats!

Who’s the next guest star in season 6 of ‘Line of Duty’?
In every season, the anti-corruption team investigates a new character. This time, it’s the turn of Joanne Davidson, the Detective Chief Inspector to be played by Scottish actor Kelly Macdonald. Her unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12 though she is described as “the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder”.
“DCI Joanne Davidson will prove the most enigmatic adversary AC-12 have ever faced”,
Mercurio claimed.
This is too big a statement, especially if you’re familiar with the performances of previous guest stars like Keeley Hawes and Thandie Newton. Kelly Macdonald is a known face for many, with a slew of TV appearances and big films like ‘Trainspotting’ and ‘Gosford Park’ on her CV. She is also famous among youngsters for her role as Helena Ravenclaw in the Harry Potter series. Moreover, she is the voice of Merida in Disney’s ‘Brave’, which makes her a Disney princess. She is already playing a police detective in the stylish BBC drama ‘Giri/Haji’.
