When he blamed his zodiac sign for leaving ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13
When “The Hollywood Reporter” grilled him for leaving ‘The Big Bang Theory’, he gave a reply that infuriated Big Bang fans all over the world. People were appalled to know that Jim would leave the longest-running sitcom for this petty issue.
He told the magazine,
“It was the first time in my life of doing this show that it occurred to me that I might want to not do another contract after (season) 12 was up”.
And then he went on and dropped a ridiculous reason saying, “I don’t know if it’s because I’m an Aries or just because maybe I’m in touch with myself. Whatever it is, once I had that thought, I was like, ‘Well, that’s your answer'”, he added.
No one could believe their ears, not even the co-stars, but they decided to respect his decision. During that time, many newspapers and magazines bashed him for leaving the show for a silly reason. But he kept his mum. The real reason is associated with Jim Parsons age.

But now we know why Jim decided to put a full stop to the geek sitcom. All this time he was acting unemotional like his character Sheldon Cooper. But the real reason will surely melt all your fury.
Jim Parsons’ age is the reason for leaving the series
There are not one, not two, but three big bang reasons why Jim decided to call it a day on the longest-running sitcom.
- Too much work drained him emotionally and physically
Just after season 11 of ‘The Big Bang Theory’, Jim Parsons started doing Broadway shows. According to reports, Parsons was probably working more than eight hours a day, every day, to film season 11. And alongside he was doing these things despite knowing that TV itself is a whole lot of exhausting work.
Broadways are also crowded with rehearsals and multiple shows and are just as hectic and busy as the life of a television actor. Despite loving what he was doing, Parsons had to cut down on one. In a deeply emotional moment, he decided not to continue with ‘The Big Bang Theory’ for season 13.
- The tragic death of his dog rocked him bottom down
Parson’s adorable dog who was a part of his life for 14 years fell ill when he was filming a commercial. The news broke him down. He felt guilty for not being with his pooch due to work. Later on, the dog died. Jim and his husband Todd Spiewak could not hold back their emotions. Time was ripe to set their priorities. Time was ripe to slow down.
- Approaching number 52
Jim was 46 years old when he decided to leave ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13. The biggest and the most tragic reason lies in the age count 52. Jim’s father died when he was 52 years old. Although Jim knows that he is not dying at 52, he doesn’t want to spend every hour working.
Jim Parsons got universal signs to slow down because of his age and figure his inner self out. He told “The Hollywood Reporter” how these instances zeroed him down to pull the curtains down on ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
Will he ever let ‘The Big Bang Theory’ reboot for season 13?
It seems like Jim Parson’s decision is rock solid and he won’t move away from it. But we can’t lose our hopes to see him as Sheldon Cooper again. Maybe when he crosses number 52, his thoughts might be different.
Most actors are emotional people. They change their decision with time, with changing situations in their lives. So we don’t need to rest our hopes on another season of cool geeky fun.
