What is all the fuss about 4 July? Can’t seem to understand why the date is trending so much? Well, it is Independence Day for America! And if you know nothing about the American customs and always found them odd, this is a guide to all you need to know about the day.
It was on 4 July 1776 that the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. This acceptance came two days after America took a vote on whether to part ways with the United Kingdom or not. So, the Declaration which was drafted by Thomas Jefferson is in a way a birth certificate of America as we know it.

Even though the Founding Fathers of America signed the document in the 1700s, it was not until 1870 that 4 July was declared a holiday
Subsequently, it became a federal paid holiday in 1941.
So, naturally, it is a big day for all Americans. And they celebrate it with fireworks, parades, and events that are held all across America.
