Rory makes a shocking revelation at the end of the revival
Netflix decided to broaden the horizon of the ‘Gilmore Girls’ universe with its ‘A Year in the Life’ revival. The four-part revival took us into the future as we learned how life has been treating our favourite Stars Hollow characters. We find that Lorelai and Luke are going strong, although Lorelai has been struggling to keep her business up. Rory has been quite a mess with regards to her career and questionable romantic decisions. Emily, on the other hand, has been learning to cope with her new lonely lifestyle following Richard’s death. The ending of the revival has Lorelai finally marrying Luke. The final four words, however, struck the chord. In the final scene, Rory confides in Lorelai that she’s pregnant.
The shocking ending of ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ already has the fans planning for season 2. There are too many questions unanswered – Who is the father of Rory’s child? Is she going to tell him? How will it affect the life of the ‘Gilmore Girls’?
A fan wrote, “Will Rory tell the father of her child, that he is going to be a father? She asked Chris, how has he felt, that she was raised solely by Lorelai? It was supposed to mean that Rory would raise her child alone too … The only way that the father would not be involved in the life of Rory’s child is if Rory doesn’t tell the father about his paternity. Or if the father is married and doesn’t want to tell his wife about a child”.
Apparently, people are obsessing over the overwhelming number of possibilities for ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ Season 2.
Quiz: Which Character From Gilmore Girls Are You Most Like?
Amy Sherman-Palladino talks about Rory’s pregnancy
Rory’s baby is the most happening talk in the ‘Gilmore Girls’ universe for now, especially with the confusion surrounding the father’s identity. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, however, intends to keep that fact ambiguous (for now, at least). She told “Vogue”, “I know who the father is, but I wanted to leave it ambiguous because people always focused on Rory in terms of Team Jess or Team Dean. This isn’t about Team Jess or Team Dean; this is about Rory. This moment that she’s sharing with Lorelai is not about who’s the father, it’s about, ‘Holy shit, look at what my life is going to be now’. I think there are plenty of clues, and people could surmise who it is, or figure out who it is, but that moment was much less of ‘which team got in there’”.
Honestly, Sherman-Palladino might have worked hard to keep Baby Gilmore’s father a secret, but we all know who it is. If you haven’t yet guessed, let us pass it on to you that all the evidence point at Logan! It would be a shame if ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ does not come up with season 2 to clear things up.
‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ to return with season 2?
Amy Sherman-Palladino has been vocal about the message she wanted to convey through Rory’s pregnancy. She said, “The purpose of leaving Rory in this position was always supposed to be that history repeats itself—daughter follows mother; where you lead I will follow”. Such an observation definitely demands an expansion which should lead to season 2 of ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’.
A second season, however, is not on the mind of the creators yet. Sherman-Palladino said, “This was the story that we wanted to do. We wanted to do this year—a year in the life. So we accomplished what we wanted to do. We didn’t go in there with any intention of wanting to do more. There were no discussions between us and Warners or us and Netflix of having any more”.
