Erin Reagan may have been around for all 10 seasons of Blue Blood, but there are still some facts about her that you might not know.
Erin Reagan in Blue Bloods is an intriguing character. She’s not only Frank’s only daughter, but she also isn’t directly involved in catching criminals and lawbreakers: she’s not a cop, but an attorney. Also a single mother, she has a singular approach to her life and work. Here are
Only a die hard fan will know this side of Blue Blood’s Erin Reagan
Highlights —
- Erin has spent time in jail
- She believes family dinners are morbid
- She thinks Morgan Hall is bad luck
#1 Erin Reagan believes family dinners are morbid
The Reagans are all about the importance of family, and they have a tradition of gathering every Sunday for a family meal together. However, there is one member of the household who may not be as amped up for these dinners as the rest: Erin Reagan.
Erin apparently believes that the family dinners are getting too morbid. In the sixteenth episode of season 10, she complains that the family has been focusing too much on the negative and unpleasant side of their work. Perhaps she’s right, and besides, who’d want to discuss work on the dinner table all the time?
#2 Her work takes precedence
Erin fell in love with Jack when she was young and married him. He cheated on her and it all went southwards from there on, culminating in a divorce. For Erin, work took precedence over personal life, and since Jack, she hasn’t had any sustained romantic interest.
Besides, with her efforts, she worked her way up to become the bureau chief for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. With such a demanding job on her hands, can there be a push for romance?

#3 Erin has worked as a cocktail waitress before
And it is something she is not the proudest of. Frank lets it slip during a Sunday family dinner that Erin’s first job was as a cocktail waitress. The fact that her father knew about this came as a shock to Erin, because she’s hidden it from her family and told him that she was working at a roller rink instead.
She thought nobody would come to know of it, but Frank is a good police officer after all.
#4 Erin wanted to be a cop too
Erin had decided upon taking the police exam and join her brothers. Since most of their family members are police officers in some capacity, Erin also wanted to contribute her services.
However, her father talked her out of it. Frank reveals later that he regretted doing that. But at least there’s Nicky, who has shown an inclination towards becoming a cop herself. Erin hopefully won’t talk her out of it.
#5 She was a rebellious teen
With her stoicism and strait-laced approach at work, who would believe Erin had a wild streak in her during her teenage years?
But it’s true. She was quite a rebellious teen, who drove fast, skipped curfew, and even lied to her parents.
#6 She changes her name
On the door of her office, the name read Erin Reagan-Boyle. This was even after divorcing from Jack. There was a practical reason for this – Nicky’s surname is Reagan-Boyle after all – but it also pointed to how hard it was for her to let some things go.
However, in season 3, she decides to drop Boyle and go back to her original maiden name. It was an important step for her to move on and develop a different mindset.
#7 Erin can possibly out-shoot Jamie and Danny
Granted, Erin isn’t a police officer. But she can aim a neat shot.
Although she doesn’t carry a gun with her, she’s familiar with it and may have had good practice too.
#8 She spent time in jail
Okay, one night only, but it still counts.
We know that Erin, who seems to always know right from wrong, did have a wildish past. Frank talks about an incident at the beach, because of which Erin was asked to spend a night in jail. We don’t know any other details, except that her antics were enough to land her in jail. They cannot have been legal ones.
#9 She thinks Morgan Hall is bad luck
Erin and Jack meet when she is 19, and a few years later, they get married at Morgan Hall. Since her divorce, she harbours a feeling that the hall is bad luck. Maybe it was only Jack who was bad.
However, there has been some latent interest in bringing Jack back into Erin’s life as a romantic interest. The couple even get on the verge of getting back together once, but when Jack wants to make their relationship public, Erin refuses, possibly in consideration of her daughter, Nicky.
#10 Erin and Joe may have had a close, tender relationship
Not much is revealed about the relationship she had with Joe, her brother who dies a tragic death, for most of the show. Joe is mentioned sometimes through the show, but we don’t get a glimpse into how he was with each member of the family.
But in season 10, we do get a sneak into what Joe and Erin’s relationship was like, when she reveals that each time she has had to make a decision that was hard, she thinks of what Joe might have had said were he there. They may have shared a very close, tender relationship.
