World Archery suspends Archery Association of India for electing two presidents at the same time.
Archery Association of India suspends by the World Archery Federation on August 8 for resisting its guidelines. World Archery suspends AAI (Archery Association of India) for electing two parallel bodies.
Two months ago, two separate elections held at the same time in Chandigarh and New Delhi. Arjun Munda and BVP Rao were elected as the presidents by AAI (Archery Association of India).
BVP Rao had the support of 10 Indian states and 20 states supported Arjun Munda. During the elections, World Archery sent Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol as their observer. Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol failed to convince both Munda and Rao for the common election.
After the elections, World Archery made a decision to suspend AAI (Archery Association of India) and gave the deadline to AAI.
“If no solution is found by the end of this month, the executive board will decide what can be done to preserve the chances of Indian athletes participating in the Asian Championships and Asian Para Championships,” Dielen said in the statement, accessed by PTI.
AAI (Archery Association of India) had requested the World Archery to give few more days but unfortunately, World Archery suspends AAI a day before the court hearing on this issue. World Archery Youth Championships in Madrid from August 19-25 is the last event where the Indian Archery players can participate.
