Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Barbora Strycova, Elina Svitolina sailed through the quarter-finals of women’s singles and now have entered the semi-finals of the Wimbledon.
Williams advanced to the semi-final of Wimbledon after beating fellow American Alison Riske by 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 on Tuesday.
With the triumph, Serena recorded her 97th victory on the court.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion will take on unseeded Czech champion Barbora Strycova in the semi-final.
Strycova held world no.3 title in doubles but she didn’t have much luck in singles.
7-times champion Serena Williams is just two victories away from equaling Margaret Court’s Grand Slam titles record of 24.
Former world number one Romanian Simona Halep on Tuesday became the first semifinalist at the Wimbledon after defeating China’s Zhang Shuai.
The number seven seed Halep came from behind to upset Zhang Shuai 7-6(4), 6-1.
Halep will play Elina Svitolina, the Ukraine eighth seed in the semi-final.
It will be the 24-year-old Ukrainian’s first Grand Slam semi-final.
