German racing driver Sebastian Vettel wins at Singapore Grand Prix 2019
The four-time Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel registered his 53rd win in F1 at Singapore Grand Prix 2019. With this win, Vettel becomes the first F1 driver to win the race five times in Singapore GP.
The 32-year-old Vettel again showed his class and won another Grand Prix title.
Vettel’s Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc finished up at 2nd position. This is team Ferrari’s third win in a row at F1 Grand Prix. This was a first one-two win for any team in Singapore GP.
Ferrari’s one-two finish and Leclerc’s disappointment
Since 2017, this is Scuderia Ferrari’s first one-two finish. A few days ago, Ferrari’s young driver Charles Leclerc wins two Formula One races (Belgian Grand Prix and Italian Grand Prix) consecutively.
This is a positive result for team Ferrari but Monégasque racing driver Charles Leclerc not happy with team orders. Until, pitstops he led Ferrari but team Ferrari sent Vettel into the pits before Leclerc. German driver Vettel got a fresh tyre boost because of an early stop. Charles Leclerc led the pole position at Singapore Grand Prix 2019 but failed to win the race.
After the race, Charles Leclerc expressed his emotions and said, “To be honest, I don’t understand at all the undercut”. On the other hand, Vettel said, “I am very happy. This was a great race. He also added, “Big congratulations to the team. In the start of a season, it was difficult for us but in the last few weeks, we have come alive.
Team Mercedes’ low phase
Other than Scuderia Ferrari, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ legendary player Lewis Hamilton performed well for their respective teams.
Max Verstappen finished the race at 3rd position while Hamilton finished up at 4th position. Red Bull’s Verstappen started fourth but finished up at 3rd position by passing Hamilton.
The 34-year-old British driver Lewis Hamilton started on the front row and led during the pitstops. The five-time Formula One World Champion tried hard but failed to win the race. This is the second time in a season in which no one from team Mercedes finishes at top-3.
After this race, in the overall standings, Charles Leclerc is the joint third with Max Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton is at No.1 position while Sebastian Vettel is at No.5 (only 6 points behind Leclerc and Verstappen).
The next Formula One race is in Russian Grand Prix on 27-29 September. Mercedes will look to get back on the winning track while Ferrari looks for another win in the season.
