Italian Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc won his 2nd F1 race of the season
The 21-year-old Charles Leclerc has won Italian Grand Prix 2019. This was his 2nd win of the season.
A week ago, Leclerc has won his first-ever Formula One race on September 1 at Belgian Grand Prix. This was Leclerc’s 2nd win for Ferrari. This was his 14th race for Ferrari.
Since 2010, this was the first win for team Ferrari at Italian Grand Prix.
The Finnish racing driver Valtteri Bottas was finished up at the 2nd spot while his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton finished up at the 3rd position. Both Bottas and Hamilton gave a tough fight to the 21-year-old Leclerc but failed to win the race.
The five-times world champion Lewis Hamilton’s lead over his rival or teammate Bottas was cut to 63 points from 65.
After the race, Lewis Hamilton said, “He did a great job, congratulations to Ferrari. A lot of pressure from both Valtteri and I. I did the best I could.
He also added, “Obviously following so closely for such a long time, the tires eventually just went off the cliff. But nevertheless they were just quicker today, quicker in a straight line, so even if we did get close we couldn’t pass. So not our day but still strong points for the team”.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc performed really well for his team but other Ferrari players like the four-times Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel performed below the mark in Italian Grand Prix 2019. He has claimed 13th position in this race.
“Last weekend (in Belgium) was my first victory, but the emotion of winning here is 10 times that,” said Charles Leclerc.
Team Mercedes lead Scuderia Ferrari in the constructors by 154 points.
Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo was in the fourth position while his Renault team-mate Nico Hulkenberg claimed the fifth position.
