India closed the women’s FIH Series Finals hockey tournament by beating hosts Japan 3-1 in the finals on Sunday.
Captain Rani Rampal gave India the lead in the 3rd minute before drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur struck twice (45th and 60th minutes) to set up the win for the Indian team
The World No.9, Indian women’s team has secured its place in the final round of the 2020 Olympics qualifiers.
Leading from the front, The Indian team was helped by an early goal from captain Rani Rampal in the 3rd minute
but conceded an equalizer in the 11th minute as Kanon Mori scored the only goal for Japan
A brace from Gurjit Kaur scored in the 45th and 60th minutes made India register an emphatic victory over Japan
Gurjit was the highest scorer of the tournament with 11 goals to her name while captain Rani Rampal was declared the player of the tournament.
