Egan Bernal beat his teammate Geraint Thomas and becomes the youngest cyclist to won the Tour-de-France
The 22-year-old Colombian cyclist won the 106th edition of the Tour-de-France on Sunday.
Egan Bernal becomes the first Colombian who won the Tour-de-France. At the age of 22, Egan Bernal is the youngest champion in 110 years.
“I think I should say thank you to all my team, thank you ‘G’ (Thomas) for the opportunity and all the team for their support and belief in me,” said Bernal.
Egan Bernal gave Team Ineos (formerly known as Team Sky) their 7th title in the last eight editions.
Bernal who was riding a yellow bike, and cheered by Colombian fans. In his country, Bernal is known as “the boy wonder”, hails from humble beginnings. The 22-year-old youngest cyclist slightly built Colombian with a killer instinct on the road.
Egan Bernal crossed the line with Geraint Thomas. Egan Bernal who did not win a single stage beat teammate Geraint Thomas who is from Britain.
Geraint Thomas who finished second, one minute 11 seconds behind the Egan Bernal. Geraint Thomas was champion in 2018 but this time he finished in the second position. Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk finished on the third position.
