Andy Green Is Confident of Racing Point’s Chances
Technical director Andy Green is confident of Racing Point’s chances of even challenging Ferrari this season after an impressive pre-season. When asked of the prospects of challenging Ferrari, Andy Green said, “Let’s see – we’re just trying to get the best we can out of the package we’ve got. Then I think we’ll see where we are in the first few races. It’s very promising, that is for sure.” Usually, many teams immediately dismiss the thoughts of challenging another team when they are not confident. However, Green seems to fancy their chances of having a go at Ferrari and the rest of the big 3.
Other Teams Take Note of Racing Point’s Impressive Display
Racing Point’s performances were so impressive that even other teams and drivers have taken note of their performances. Ferrari team principal, Mattia Binotto, said, “I think Racing Point are certainly very close.” Similarly, McLaren drivers, Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz, too pointed out that they were the new team to beat. Sainz said, “Racing Point have been very quick, the whole two weeks,” pointing it out as the third-fastest car. Likewise, Norris echoed Sainz’s sentiments, “I don’t know what the midfield is anymore, because there’s one pink car which is very fast.” Norris’ comments seem to suggest that they have been so quick that they are now likely to be closer to the top 3 teams than the midfield.
