Football association, players and coaches put questions on Messi’s ‘Player of the year award’.
A Few days ago, FIFA gave the Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award to star footballer Lionel Messi. This was Messi’s 6th Men’s Player of the year award.

Most of the football fans were not happy with FIFA’s decision to give the best Player of the year award to Lionel Messi over Virgil Van Dijk.
After the award ceremony football associations, coaches and players raised questions on FIFA for giving the award to Messi.
Juan Barrera raised questions on the Best FIFA awards via Twitter
On September 24, the 30-year-old Nicaraguan footballer Juan Barrera tweeted, “Do not vote for the prizes #TheBest2019 Any information about my vote is false, thanks”.
After this Tweet, Nicaraguan captain called for an investigation and told that he did not vote for Messi.
After Juan Barrera’s allegations, FIFA said in a statement, ” We have checked the voting documents submitted by the Nicaraguan FA and all documents are signed and confirmed with the official stamp of the Nicaraguan FA”.
Shawki Ghareeb’s and Ahmed’s voting issue
Egypt’s Football Association also raised questions on FIFA for giving the award to Messi. On September 24, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) asked FIFA why the votes of its national coach Shawki Ghareeb and captain Ahmed El-Mohammadi were not included in the voting. After the award ceremony, Shawki and Ahmed’s names were not included in FIFA’s publication of votes. Currently, EFA (Egypt Football Association) investigating on this case.
Salah’s vote changed to Messi
On September 25, Sudanian coach Zdravko Lugarisic said that Messi was not his first choice. He picked Mohamed Salah over Messi but the FIFA’s official website showed Messi as his top pick. In a

The former Cameroonian footballer, Samuel Eto’o also said that Salah and Mane were the best players this year.
While FIFA denied any such wrongdoing, it remains to be seen how the controversy pans out in the coming days.
