Cristiano Ronaldo admits that he paid to silence rape accuser
Star footballer Christiano Ronaldo has finally admitted that he paid $375,000 to silence rape accuser.
The 34-year-old footballer just publicly acknowledged paying Kathryn Mayorga who claimed that Ronaldo had raped her in 2009.
Mayorga claims that she met Ronaldo in the Rains Nightclub at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kathryn Mayorga claimed that she took money from Cristiano Ronaldo in 2010. Mayorga said that she took money from Ronaldo as part of a private settlement. She previously said that she signed a non-disclosure agreement about this incident.
In 2018, Kathryn Mayorga identified Ronaldo as the man that had allegedly raped her. After this, the police started an investigation. Police did not charge Ronaldo due to lack of evidence. After this, Kathryn Mayorga filed a civil lawsuit. New court documents reveal the amount of money paid by Cristiano Ronaldo to Mayorga.
“Mr. Ronaldo paid Plaintiff the sum of $375,000 and both parties agreed to be bound by explicit confidentiality and non-disparagement obligations,” the court documents stated, as per TMZ.
It is still unconfirmed whether the Civil Lawsuit will continue or not. The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner has repeatedly denied the allegations.
Cristiano Ronaldo wants to be taken out this case from the public eye. The 34-year-old soccer superstar wants to move this case from federal court to a private court.
