The Bianconeri are looking to offload the striker on a permanent deal (seeking £32m)
The Argentina striker has made it clear to AC Milan, where he is currently on loan from Juventus, that he wants to leave for Chelsea. Both clubs have traveled to Saudi Arabia where they will play each other on Wednesday in the Italian Super Cup.
AC Milan is already looking for alternative forwards to take his spot in the squad and are considering a move for Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek. Chelsea’s struggling forward Alvaro Morata had been suggested as some part of loan swap deal, but the Spain international prefers a return to La Liga at this stage.
Juventus have rejected a loan bid from Chelsea for Gonzalo Higuain. The striker, currently on loan at Milan, has made it known he is keen to join the Premier League side, according to the Evening Standard.
However, Juve has dismissed the offer, keen to sell the Argentine permanently, and will meet with the Rossoneri to discuss the player’s future in the coming days.
The Italian giants meet in the Supercoppa on Wednesday with Milan already looking at potential alternatives. Genoa hotshot Krzysztof Piątek is an option. Chelsea are eager to bolster their forward ranks before allowing Álvaro Morata to leave Stamford Bridge.
The former Bianconeri forward has been considered as some part of a swap deal but is keen to return to LaLiga with Sevilla very keen to sign him.
A sticking point for both Chelsea and Morata is that he will not move until the west Londonders have secured a replacement.
