Lionel Messi to go on precautionary leaves due to injury after losing the match against Venezuela
Last week, we reported about Messi’s return for Argentina after the 2018 World Cup. Since then Messi did not play any international match until last Friday’s match against Venezuela. With high hopes on Messi’s return, even the head coach of Argentina, Lionel Scaloni was relieved. Yet, the night became a disappointing one as Argentina lost by 3-1 to Venezuela.
Messi played at his best but it was not the night for him or Argentina. After losing the match, the team announced that Messi will miss further matches due to a groin injury. The team does not want to take any risk with Messi so as a safety measure Messi will skip the matches.
Argentina manager Luis Scaloni after the loss said: “The second half left us with positive things and the first half with negative ones. Better that they happened that way. We learned a lot from this loss. The situations we created were largely in due part to Messi. This match helped us to see how other players played alongside Messi.
Messi returned with a totally fresh and changed look. He was clean shaven. Though the luck was really bad as Venezuela has only won once in the last 23 matches against each other.
Striker Dario Benedetto expressed: “Messi is the best player in the world and we have to adapt ourselves to fastest way possible to him.”
Everyone is wishing for the speedy and proper recovery of the player.
