The FIFA council accept the proposal to expand the number of teams in Women’s football World Cup to 32 from 24.
In FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, there will be 32 teams in the tournament.
In the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, there will be 32 teams in eights groups. In each group, there will be 4 teams.
FIFA president says expanding for the 2023 tournament will help motivate nations to qualify.
“The astounding success of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France made it very clear that this is the time to keep the momentum going and take concrete steps to foster the growth of women’s football,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said.
This is a great move by FIFA council, to include more teams in Women’s football World Cup. This will give opportunities to the countries that are not part of Women’s football World Cup in previous tournaments.
