Ferguson 77, met former striker and current caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Carrington on Saturday
Sir Alex, who managed Manchester United from 1986-2013, played a role in bringing former United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and former assistant Mike Phelan back to the club.
Sir Alex Ferguson is back working for Manchester United as a consultant in a bid to restore the club’s glory days. The former Red Devils boss played a part in hiring Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the return of his former assistant Mike Phelan after Jose Mourinho was sacked last week.
Solskjaer said- ‘I am going to enjoy a nice cup of tea back at his house and sit down to discuss a few ideas. There’s no-one better to get advice from.’I had the best teacher. The boss is and will always be the best, so my management involves around what I learned from him.’
Jose Mourinho also invited Ferguson to Carrington, but it’s understood that United’s legendary manager has not been back since undergoing life-saving surgery for a brain hemorrhage in May.
According to sources, ex-United player Solskjaer will plan regular contact with Ferguson which is something his predecessor chose not to do. It is also understood former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel wants to join the club as the director of football.
On the possibility of an Old Trafford return, Schmeichel said: “I’m thinking about putting my name in there. Like every other footballer, I want to be involved again.“I have this energy, I have an education but I’ve not seen anything that’s really interesting to make the big change and then I see this big idea about the director of football at Man United. “I’m considering if I have the qualities and will think about it over Christmas. If I do think yes, then I will throw my hat into the ring.
United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who is determined to get things right after three managerial failures on his watch, turned to the legendary manager as he prepared to sack Mourinho following their 3-1 loss at Liverpool.
