On Wednesday night Wayne Rooney scored a screamer for D.C. United from beyond the halfway line for one of the best goals of his long career.
Rooney, now 33, is playing his second MLS season, has surely bettered those previous two half-line goals(with Man Utd and Everton) by striking from inside his own half of the pitch just before the ten-minute mark to leave the Orlando goalkeeper stunned.

He proceeded to chip the ball over Orlando goalkeeper, Brian Rowe and was quickly mobbed by his teammates who were in awe of his genius.
let’s look at some of the astonishing and legendary half-line goals:
#10 RIVALDO
Rivaldo after receiving a pass in his own half was quickly shut down by an opponent but still managed to shoot a brave attempt from the half-line. This beautifully deft long-range strike is almost elegantly effortless.
#9 MEMPHIS DEPAY
Former Manchester United player Memphis Depay scored an incredible goal from the halfway line for Lyon in their 4-0 win over Toulouse. (kindly click on watch on youtube to preview the video)
#8 WAYNE ROONEY
The technique shown by the former England captain, Wayne Rooney to make such a clean connection with his laces and propel the ball at the perfect trajectory to hit it at the back of the net takes some beating.
#7 JONATHAN SORIANO
Jonathan Soriano scored twice in the first half against Ajax FC, Soriano’s opener came via a 14th-minute penalty, but his second 10 minutes before half time is the one really worth watching over and over again.
#6 CARLI LLYOD
There have been many goals scored from half-line throughout the history of football, but none on a bigger stage than Carli Lloyd’s in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 Final against Japan.
#5 DEJAN STANKOVIC
Showing brilliant execution of a tough skill, the Serbian international beat Manuel Neuer with a half-line volley in a crucial Champions League match.
#4 XABI ALONSO
A startling strike that left keeper Steve Harper floundering like a particularly slippery fish. It was all him as he won the ball for his team and had to beat the referee, who was standing in his way, but there was no stopping his shot
#3 CHARLIE ADAMS
This was a truly audacious strike against the eventual League Champions in 2015, measuring in at fully 65 yards. Hopeless Courtois could do extremely little after the Englishman let one fly off his left foot. The Belgian sprinted back and got a hand to it, but such was the precision of the strike that despite his best efforts, the ball sailed into the back of the net.
#2 WAYNE ROONEY
Wayne Rooney just doing Wayne Rooney things during his time at Manchester United. One of the 33-year-old’s most famous goals, where he scored from beyond the halfway line for the Red Devils against West Ham.
#1 DAVID BECKHAM
Arguably the most famous goal of all those listed, David Beckham’s wonder goal against Wimbledon truly marked his arrival onto the big stage.
wearing the famous United No.10 shirt for the first time, following Mark Hughes’ departure, Beckham marked the occasion in style, scoring this incredible goal.

The precision was such that despite Sullivan’s best efforts and a late jump, the ball went in the goal. United won the match 3-0 with Beckham getting his name in the history books.
