ICC officially launches World Test Championship. Test cricket is the longest form of cricket and to make it more interesting ICC has introduced World Test Championship.
World Test Championship is going to start from August 1 with Ashes series between Australia and England.
From the last decade, it has been seen that the interest in Test cricket of fans is decreasing day by day. To make test cricket more interesting and challenging, ICC has introduced the World Test Championship.

In the end, the top two teams in the points-table will face each other in the final of World Test Championship on June 2021 at Lord’s.
The World Test Championship is a championship in which top nine Test-playing nations will face each other in a two-year time span. Each country will play six Test series. In six test series, three will be home series and other three will be away series. There will be a total of 27 series and 72 Test matches altogether in World Test Championship.
All teams will play at least two Test matches and at most five Test matches in a series. All nine teams will play against six teams. The number of matches played by the teams in six series will not be the same.
Ireland and Afghanistan are the only Test teams that are not included in the World Test Championship.
India will play their first series of World Test Championship against West Indies at the end of August 2019. India is not going to play the series with Sri Lanka and Pakistan in World Test Championship.
Each series will carry 120 points. It does not depend on the number of matches in a series. For a win in a two-match series team will get 60 points and for a win in a five-match series team will get 24 points. In the case of a tie, points will be shared between two teams in the ratio 3:1.
