IPL 2019: CSK won by 6 wickets against SRH
It was indeed a tough day for Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday. SRH fierce opener David Warner and Manish Pandey smashed boundaries at will. But the stadium was a sea of yellow as usual.
Winning the toss hosts opted to bowl first.
SRH Playing XI – D Warner, J Bairstow (wk), M Pandey, S Al Hasan, V Shankar, Y Pathan, D Hooda, R Khan, B Kumar (c), K Ahmed, S Sharma.
Unfortunately, Jonny Bairstow departed early on a duck but David Warner was in control and scored half century though on a slow pace. Manish Pandey was the highlight for the Hyderabad as the guy was in scintillating form.
Pandey turned the script in style by joining Warner. Neither took too long to shrug off the bowlers. Reaching 50 in 25 deliveries he proved an able ally for Warner who notched his seventh half-century of the IPL. It was the 73 balls 115 run stands between the two that laid the platform for SRH getting to a total of 175.
CSK Playing XI – S Watson, F du Plessis, S Raina, A Rayudu, K Jadhav, MS Dhoni (c & wk), D Bravo, R Jadeja, D Chahar, H Singh, I Tahir.
Facing a 176 run target, the highest CSK have been asked to scale at home this season. Falling to 8/1 raised some concerns for the hosts. Suresh Raina and Shane Watson erased that with two perfect T20 knocks.
Although the chase went down the wire, CSK never looked in trouble chasing down the target with a ball to spare, reaching 176/4. Watson studded his knock with nine fours and six sixes. He fell just four short of what would have been a deserved hundred. But the match was already beyond reach for SRH.
Winning the game, CSK also made a place in the playoffs.
