Yesterday Feroz Shah Kotla Ground witnessed the first match IPL 2019 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC). DC won the toss and opted to bat first keeping in mind the dew factor later on.
DC Playing XI – P Shaw, S Dhawan, S Iyer*, C Ingram, R Pant (wk), K Paul, A Patel, R Tewatia, K Rabada, A Mishra, I Sharma.
After deciding to set the target first, Delhi started off lazy with random boundaries. DC openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan added runs on the board with a slow pace. Dhawan scored a half-century with the use of 46 balls. Shaw was dismissed early by Deepak Chahar for 24 runs.
DC captain, Shreyas Iyer disappointed again with not being able to add on a decent score. He lost his wicket to Imran Tahir. Kotla Ground now resided their hopes on Rishabh Pant, who was the star of the match against Mumbai Indians. The champion song singer, Dwayne Bravo got the wicket of Pant. He actually proved he is a champion by dismissing important wickets of Pant, Dhawan and Ingram. Overall, DC managed to set only 147 runs on board.
Chasing a target of 148 was not going to be a trouble a CSK with a magnificent batting line up.

Shane Watson took the lead and scored a 26 ball 44 with becoming Man of the Match at the end. Suresh Raina also proved to be a helping hand with scoring 30 runs off just 16 balls giving a boost to the team. Amit Mishra dismissed both the batsman in charge with Pant’s activeness. Also, Mishra registered his 50th wicket at the venue.
The middle order started adding on runs to the board on a regular pace. MS Dhoni and Jadhav formed a partnership of 48 runs seeking a fantabulous win and topping the table.
