IPL 2019: SRH won by 6 wickets against CSK
Cricket is as unpredictable as life. A team at the top winning continuously lost to the team at the bottom in a one-sided match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Sunrisers Hyderabad completely dominated Chennai Super Kings from the beginning of the match.
Winning the toss visitors decided to set the target first.
CSK Playing XI – S Watson, F du Plessis, S Raina(c), A Rayudu, K Jadhav, S Billings (wk), R Jadeja, K Sharma, D Chahar, S Thakur, I Tahir.
CSK without Dhoni is like shoes without socks. Without Dhoni, the team failed miserably in batting. The team lacked a piece of expert advice which was quite evident.
After three straight losses, SRH is back in the winner’s circle. In knocking off the table-topping CSK, Tom Moody’s side has received a much-needed injection of confidence. In truth, the home side was on top for large periods of tonight’s clash. While Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis got CSK off to a strong start batting first, SRH pulled the reins through the brilliance of Rashid Khan and Khaleel Ahmed. The visitors could manage just 30 runs off their last five overs, underlining the brilliance at the death of Kane Williamson’s bowlers.
SRH Playing XI – D Warner, J Bairstow (wk), K Williamson(c), V Shankar, Y Pathan, D Hooda, R Khan, B Kumar, S Nadeem, K Ahmed, S Sharma.
In the chase, Warner and Bairstow effectively iced things early on. In plundering 66 runs in 5.3 overs, the pair continued their run of form and ensured their fellow top-order batsmen could settle at the crease. By winning while still 19 balls to spare, they completed a rare dominant win over CSK appeared to struggle without their skipper MS Dhoni. Absent for the first time since 2010, Dhoni’s leadership and experience in the middle was missed. Stand-in skipper Suresh Raina, however, said Dhoni could return for their next clash, against RCB on Sunday.
