Sri Lankan women squad announced for England T20 series beginning from March 24
The T20 series between Sri Lanka and England women is starting from March 24. A 15 member squad for the three-match series has been declared by Sri Lanka.
The recollected players in the team are Hansima Karunaratne, Sugandika Kumari and Inoshi Fernando. The captain of the women squad Chamari Atapattu will also play an important role with Madushika Meththananda added to the squad. Madushika has not played any international match yet.
Recently the team has not been in a good form if we talk in terms of numbers. Moreover, the team has been lacking behind the most in the shortest format. From the start of 2018, Sri Lankan women have only won four matches out of the 17 matches.
Recently in Sri Lankan tour of South Africa this year, Karunaratne, Kumari, and Fernando were not headed along with the squad.
The team was left completely disheartened in the three-match T20I series against South Africa in February with not a single win. England swept the recently concluded ODI series 3-0, resulting in Sri Lanka’s failure to qualify directly to the next 50-over World Cup.
Sri Lanka would be hoping to change their fortunes and put up an impressive show in the T20I series.
