IPL 2019: DC defeat RCB by 4 wickets
What a beauty Kagiso Rabada is. Rabada dominated the RCB’s batsmen in his spell of 4 overs took 4 wickets and gave only 21 runs. The result, RCB’s sixth defeat in a row was on the cards.
Winning the toss, Shreyas Iyer, DC skipper opted to field first.
RCB Playing XI – P Patel (wk), V Kohli(c), AB de Villiers, M Stoinis, M Ali, A Nath, P Negi, N Saini, T Southee, Y Chahal, M Siraj.
RCB batsmen failed massively. No one apart from Virat Kohli played more than 18 deliveries. Despite having Kohli at one end, the other top-order batsmen Parthiv Patel and the explosive AB de Villiers lost their way after having few balls connected.
Moeen Ali boosted the innings with his short yet sweet 18 balls 32 with 3 maximums. Delhi’s biggest feast was in keeping Kohli off strike for the most part of the game. Capitals allowed him to face only 27 balls till 15th over. That frustrated him and he started to play ruthlessly but Rabada tilted the game once again and dismissed Kohli. Rabada also took the wickets of de Villiers, Akshdeep Nath and Pawan Negi in his spell.
RCB somehow managed to a total of 149 for the loss of 8 wickets.
DC Playing XI – P Shaw, S Dhawan, S Iyer(c), R Pant (wk), C Ingram, R Tewatia, C Morris, A Patel, K Rabada, I Sharma, S Lamichhane.
DC faced an early blow in face of Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan was sent back to the dugout on the first ball he faced by Tim Southee. Iyer and young Prithvi Shaw retrieved the innings in DC favour and added 68 runs together. Iyer in the hour of need scored a composed 67 on 50 balls.
Rishabh Pant’s and Colin Ingram’s little yet handy contributions drove Delhi past 149 getting two more points. Though Capitals once again faced a mini collapse and faced fall of wickets in quick succession this time it didn’t affect the winning points.
