IPL 2019: MI won by 9 wickets against KKR
When KKR hosted MI a week ago, Andre Russell was their enforcer smashing a 40 ball 80. Yesterday’s match was completely opposite of the last encounter between the two teams. The previous game witnessed flowing runs but yesterday the case was more of the fall of wickets.
Winning the toss MI opted to bowl first.
KKR Playing XI – S Gill, C Lynn, N Rana, D Karthik (c & wk), A Russell, R Uthappa, R Singh, P Krishna, S Narine, S Warrier, H Gurney.
A more complete team performance you will struggle to find. The Mumbai Indians looked like a championship-winning team right from the toss which they won and inserted the Kolkata Knight Riders. The bowlers, led by veteran Lasith Malinga, did the business with the ball in hand to restrict the visitors to a sub-par total and accumulating a whopping 60 dot balls in the process.
MI Playing XI – R Sharma (c), Q de Kock (wk), S Yadav, I Kishan, K Pollard, H Pandya, K Pandya, R Chahar, M McClenaghan, J Bumrah, L Malinga.
When it came time to reply to the Mumbai Indians did a truly professional job and didn’t allow the low score to unsettle their chase as low scores sometimes can. Quinton de Kock played his usual free-flowing game to give the hosts a solid start. When he departed Rohit Sharma showed all his experience and class to guide his team to victory and to top of the table.
