IPL 2019: RR register their first win against RCB by 7 wickets
Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur which is home ground to Rajasthan Royals (RR) proved to be lucky for them. Yesterday night RR won their first game of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). RCB too didn’t bow down easily. Both the teams were looking to grab the two points finally. RR won hands down.
Having lost the toss, RCB were invited to take the strike first by the hosts
RCB Playing XI – P Patel (wk), S Hetmyer, V Kohli(c), AB de Villiers, M Ali, M Stoinis, A Nath, U Yadav, M Siraj, N Saini, Y Chahal.
RCB skipper, Virat Kohli failed to click with the bat properly and was playing with a run-a-ball tactic. Kohli departed for 23 runs in 25 balls. AB de Villiers too disappointed to make it big. Shreyas Gopal was giving RR timely successions. Gopal took 3 major wickets of Kohli, de Villiers and Shimron Hetmyer. Runs were being added on the board with a slow pace than needed.
Parthiv Patel showed a glimpse of what he is capable of. He added 67 runs on 41 balls with 9 boundaries and 1 big shot. Marcus Stoinis and Moeen Ali played some brilliant shots and took RCB to a total of 150 plus.
The hosts came out to play at their home ground to chase 158 runs.
RR Playing XI – A Rahane(c) Jos Buttler (wk), R Tripathi, S Smith, B Stokes, S Binny, K Gowtham, J Archer, S Gopal, V Aaron, D Kulkarni.
RR had a solid start to the inning. The formidable opening pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler put on 60 runs in 7.4 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal finally gave a pause to the stand by dismissing Rahane. Buttler continued to smash in the boss way and scored a half-century.

Steve Smith also supported Buttler in helping RR cross the line. The duo added a speedy 44 runs. Chahal once again bought smiles on RCB’s stand by departing Jos the Boss. Jos ended up scoring 59 of 43 balls. The fifty Jos scored was his fourth consecutive at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Rahul Tripathi and Steve Smith made no mistake to continue forward and finished the game with one ball left. Smith smacked a rocking sixer at the second last ball of final over to make Royals taste their first victory.
