India to chase 299 in a do or die encounter
After winning the toss, Australian skipper Aaron Finch opted to bat but the team got off to a poor start. The hosts lost both the openers (Finch and Alex Carey) inside the powerplay overs after a sluggish start. But Marsh along with the middle order batsmen posted crucial partnerships, taking Australia out of trouble. Shaun Marsh produced a sublime 131-run knock as Australia scored 298 for nine in the second One-day International (ODI) against India in Adelaide on Tuesday.
Shaun Marsh’s 123-ball 131 and Glenn Maxwell’s quickfire 48 help Australia post 298/9.

Along with Marsh, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell scored a quickfire 48 off 37 deliveries helping post a healthy total on a tricky surface. Marsh stitched four fifty-plus partnerships with Usman Khawaja (21), Peter Handscomb (20), Marcus Stoinis (29) and Glenn Maxwell. Along with that, Marsh also scored his seventh century in ODI cricket. Marsh and Maxwell with a 94-run stand for the sixth wicket helped Australia get close to 300-run mark.
For the Indians, the pick of the bowlers were Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami who finished with figures of 4/45 and 3/58 respectively.

Mohammed Siraj had a forgetful debut where he went on to concede the most runs by an Indian bowler on debut. A tough initiation to ODI cricket for him. As for the spinners, they were ineffective as they failed to pick more than 1 wicket. Coming to the chase, the pitch does look good to bat on and with small boundaries, there should be no reason why this target cannot be achieved by the Indians. They will have to guard against the new-ball pair of Australia that ripped the top order apart the last time. The visitors will look for a good start from the two openers as well as look up to their captain to get to this stiff target. We should be back in some time.
