Toronto Nationals lost by eight wickets against Vancouver Knights.
In the opening match of the second edition of the Global T20 League, Canada Vancouver Knights defeat Toronto Nationals by eight wickets.
Toronto Nationals which is led by the former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh lost the toss batted first and scored 159 runs in 20 overs.
Toronto Nationals got off a bad start as they lost their dashing opener, Brendon McCullum, very early. McCullum scored only (4) runs. South African seamer Andile Phehlukwayo took his wicket.
Rodrigo Thomas and Calum Macleod scored some runs creating the momentum but, in 9th over Saad Bin Zafar broke the partnership. Toronto Nationals lost two wickets within 52 runs.
Toronto Nationals skipper Yuvraj Singh came out to bat at No. 4 but, failed to rotate the strike unabling him to play big shots. He scored 14 runs in 21 deliveries. Thomas also departed just after Yuvraj’s wicket. In the end, Heinrich Klaasen scored quick 41 runs off just 20 balls.
Tobias Visee and Chris Gayle opened the inning for Vancouver Knights. Toronto Nationals took two quick wickets of both the openers of Vancouver Knights in PowerPlay. Gayle scored only (12) runs.
After losing two wickets, Bolton and Var der Dussen were on the crease. They both scored half-centuries and had put up an unbeaten stand of 126 runs. They both helped Vancouver Knights to win their first match of this season by eights wickets and 16 balls to spare.
Toronto Nationals had a heartbreaking result from the match. Nationals next match is on July 27 with Edmonton Royals.
