IPL 2019 – The first match is between CSK and RCB
One of the most talked events every year, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is commencing from tomorrow. In the first match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will go against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). CSK is the only team to have won the title thrice whereas RCB has made to finals three times but have not been able to conquer it.
The opening match of the season is even more interesting considering the fact that both the former and current India skipper will be against each other. MS Dhoni is the captain of CSK on the other hand RCB is led by Virat Kohli.
The famous RCB duo of Kohli and AB de Villiers was retained by RCB with more quality players added to the team. This year RCB purchased Indian batsman Shivam Dube, Shimron Hetmyr – winning captain of West Indies for U-19 World Cup and Australian bowler Marcus Stoinis. RCB in total bought 10 players in the auction which includes young players like Akshdeep Nath. All the key players other than Kohli and de Villiers were retained too like – Tim Southee, Parthiv Patel, Pawan Negi, Coulter Nile and Colin de Granddhome.
On the other CSK only bought two players – Mohit Sharma and the young blood Ruturaj Gaikwad. Big players like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan, Shane Watson, Imran Tahir, Bravo, and many others were retained.
The excitement for the first match of the season can be estimated through the sale of the tickets. The tickets of the match were sold out within a few hours of the opening day of the sale of the tickets.
