Two-time champions India have unveiled their away kit for the ICC World Cup 2019.
After the BCCI revealed away jersey, several cricketers, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and others took to their social media accounts and shared their look in the new orange kit.
Before the commencement of the World Cup, the ICC injected a new rule asking the teams to sport home and away jerseys in the tournament.
What is the rationale behind this away kit?
The away kits have been brought into play for the first time at an International Cricket Council (ICC) event.

ICC rule states, āFor televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different coloured kits, except for the host country who has preference in the choice of colour and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one coloured kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event, the teams will be notified which coloured kit will be worn in each match.ā
Orange jersey inspired by India’s young new generation
āThe ODI and away kit designs launched this year are inspired by the young new generation of India and the fearless spirit of the national teams,ā Nike said in a statement.

A change in colors was required, but the question over why the ‘Orange’ color was chosen is being asked by several across the country.
“Colour options were given to BCCI and they chose the colour combination that looked the best to them. The whole idea is to be different from blue as England also wears the same shade of blue as India,” said a source.
New jersey has features as well

“Also the design (orange) is taken from India’s old T20 jersey which had orange in it. The designers who are sitting in the USA designed this jersey from something that already existed and not something completely new that fans don’t identify with,” the source added.
The orange color led to a controversy
Some opposition members had slammed the new orange colour jersey, accusing the PM Modiās BJP-led NDA government of āsaffronizingā the Team India jersey.
India would be donning this new kit for their match against England on Sunday.
