Sri Lanka and Pakistan forced to split two points after WC match was called off due to heavy rain
The World Cup fixture among Pakistan and Sri Lanka was surrendered without a ball being bowled on Friday after a tireless downpour in Bristol.
The game was planned to start at 10:30 am yet was in the end cancelled towards the evening, with the two groups granted a point.
It is the first match at the World Cup in England and Wales to be abandoned without a result.
What if the match would have happened?
A team would have won and another one would have lost. Right? Not just a team, a deserving team would have triumphed.
A World Cup match doesn’t deserve this kind of a ending. It is not unknown that this time of the year is a time of downpours at UK yet it was chosen to host ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Keeping in mind, how these factors can change the fate of a team to advance to next stage.
We feel an important tournament like World Cup must have spare days. What do you think?
