Analysing both the teams
Australia – Australia, the defending champions, enter the contest after suffering a crushing loss at the hands of India on Sunday. Not much went right for the five-time champions against the formidable Indian team.
Pakistan – Pakistan’s last game was against Sri Lanka but the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Pakistan, however, will be confident of beating Australia. In their last outing, they had defeated hosts and favourites England in a high-scoring encounter. After posting 348, Pakistan had restricted England to 334 for 9.
David Warner (Batsman)
Known for his power hitting abilities Warner scored an 89* in Australia’s opening match against Afghanistan, leading the Kangaroos to their first victory in the tournament.
Warner who has played 109 matches, has scored 4,491 runs at an average of 44.02.
Mitchell Starc (Bowler)
A left-arm fast bowler with an ability to swing the ball at high speeds Mitchell Starc is expected to create trouble for Pakistan.
Starc played a major role in Kangaroo’s win over Windies.
Mohammad Amir (Bowler)
Mohammad Amir willl hope to enjoy another landmark occasion at Taunton when Pakistan face Australia there in a World Cup match on Wednesday.
Babar Azam (Batsman)
Azam since arriving in England has put up consistent performances while batting number three.
Azam who has played 66 ODI’s, has scored 2,824 runs at an average of 51.34.
Kangaroos may be the defending champions but Pakistan too are unpredictable with Amir on their side.
