Yes you are reading it right we are referring Kangaroos as ‘Underdogs’ for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019
Revived under Justin Langer, the champions are all of a sudden contenders once more. What is lacking in the team is the experience. The mixture of old and new players is still unsettled. The new combination is yet to prove themselves.
The last 11 months have been very hard for Australia.
Until early March, two barren years had seen Australia win only four matches of 26. England delivered nine of those thrashings.
Return of Warner and Smith
Australia’s odds in the forthcoming 2019 World Cup will vigorously depend on how David Warner and Steve Smith will perform after the bans as the two have been an irreplaceable piece of the Australian cricket group over everyone in every format.
Smith has not been able to click after the return. Warner, on the other hand, has been impressive and was the highest run scorer in IPL 2019 conquering the orange cap.
Big guns for the team
Other than Smith and Warner, Glenn Maxwell will be in the limelight with his brilliant performance in previous World Cup strike rate of 182. He has proven beneficial for the team in the middle order.
Approach for the Cup
There are so many variables. Smith, Warner and Starc at their best are almost enough to win a trophy. But the likelihood of their best isn’t high. What Australia does have of late is the consistency of effort and of returns across each other spot in the team. They might not have perpetual dangerous potentials like England or current individual brightness like India, yet they’re sufficient to challenge any team.
Hit the nail on the head twice,
and a 6th trophy is a particular possibility.
