IPL 2019: KXIP defeat MI by 8 wickets
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) added second win this season in their account against Mumbai Indians (MI) at their home ground Mohali. Punjab winning the toss put the guests to bat first.
MI Playing XI – Q de Kock (wk), R Sharma(c), S Yadav, Y Singh, K Pollard, K Pandya, H Pandya, M McClenaghan, M Markande, J Bumrah, L Malinga.
Openers Rohit Sharma and de Kock gave MI a steady start. Sharma though disappointed in between and was dismissed for 30 runs, de Kock continued his aggressive scoring. De Kock scored 60 off 39 balls. Mohali’s local boy Yuvraj Singh walked in to play big like previous matches but sadly he couldn’t smash it high against KXIP and departed for 18.
In the end, the Pandya duo Hardik and Krunal pushed MI to a total score of 176 with Hardik scoring 31 off just 19 balls.
Set 177 to win after, KXIP achieved the target in 18.4 overs.

With openers like KL Rahul and Chris Gayle starting the innings with their power-hitting, the target looked like a feast to KXIP. The Universe Boss smashed four sixes and became the first batsmen to score 300 sixes in the history of IPL. Pandya brothers stopped Gayle 10 runs short from the half-century. Hardik took a brilliant catch at long on and Krunal was the one bowling.
KL Rahul played s controlled innings, scoring an unbeaten 71 off 55 balls to set up KXIP second win of the season. Also, Mayank Agarwal weighed in with 43 0ff 21 and sharing a 64 run partnership with Rahul.
The result brought smiles on the faces of Mohali fans, who danced to the beat of drums. Preity Zinta, the co-owner of KXIP was spotted supporting the team and distributing T-shirt during the match with full enthusiasm.
