Indian cricketers who shine at International level but; fade away quickly due to the poor form and injuries.
In India, to get a place in the national cricket team is very difficult. Almost every kid or youngster wants to play cricket for India. Very few players get the chance to play cricket for their national team.
There are some cricketers who achieved well in the game but fade away quickly.
Many Indian cricket stars like- Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, etc. did not get retirement from the field because they were not in the selectors’ scheme of things, since 2013.
Currently, there are some non-retired cricketers who did not get a chance in the national team for a long time.
Let’s have a look at those players who haven’t retired yet but are completely ignored by the Indian cricket selectors.
#1. Robin Uthappa
The 33-year-old right-hand batsman, Robin Uthappa has made his International debut in 2006 against England. He was one the most important player in India’s 2007 T-20 World Cup victory. He did not get regular chances in the Indian team after 2007 T-20 World Cup. He has played every season of the IPL for different franchises but Uthappa got his golden period in the league with Kolkata Knight Riders.

In 2014, he won the orange cap and led his team to the victory. He consistently scored many runs in domestic cricket. He won many trophies for his state team (Karnataka). Due to the superb performances in the first-class cricket, he got another chance in team India but he did not perform well and lost his place. Since 2015, the Indian selectors did not give him a chance to play cricket for the national team.
#2. Harbhajan Singh
A Turban guy from Jalandhar has made his International debut in 1998 against Australia. Harbhajan Singh is known as one of the best spinners of India. Harbhajan was the part of team India on many big occasions like – Test series victory against Australia in 2001, T-20 World Cup 2007, 2011 World Cup, etc. The Turbanator has taken 400+ wickets for India in Tests.

Harbhajan lost his place from the team after the victory in 2011 World Cup because of Ravichandran Ashwin’s performances and his own low performances. After 2011, he was not a regular member of the team. He has played in 2016 T-20 World Cup and played his last international game in March 2016 against UAE. He consistently performed good in IPL and won four trophies (three with Mumbai Indians and one with Chennai Super Kings). Currently, he is commentating for the Star Sports and play some domestic matches & also in the IPL.
#3. Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina has made his International debut in July 2005 against Sri Lanka. In limited-overs cricket, he played regularly in the Indian team. He had played many impactful innings for the nation in lower middle-order. He had a big contribution in India’s 2011 World Cup victory. In IPL, he has won three trophies for Chennai Super Kings.

Since 2016, he did not perform well and lost his place from the team. He made a comeback in 2018 but did not hold the spot in a team. Indian selectors ignored him in the World Cup and right now is not in selectors’ scheme of things for the 2020 T-20 World Cup. Currently, he is recovering from a knee injury.
#4. Irfan Pathan
The 35-year-old, Pathan has made got the Indian cap in 2003 against Australia. In the start of his career, everyone thought that India gets a new Kapil Dev. Irfan Pathan stunned everyone with his bowling when he got the Test Hat-trick against Pakistan in Karachi. He was India’s frontline bowler in 2007 T-20 World Cup.

After 2007, he did not get regular chances in the team. He has played almost every season of the IPL but produced average performances. Since 2012, the Indian selectors ignored him to play cricket for the national team. Currently, he is commentating for Star Sports and play some domestic matches for Gujrat.
#5. Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla has made his debut for India in 2006 against England. He was a part of India’s squad in 2007 T-20 World Cup and also in 2011 World Cup.

He has won two IPL trophies for Kolkata Knight Riders and produced brilliant performances for the team. He is playing regularly in domestic cricket but did not get a chance in the national team since, December 2012.
