What The Future Of Education Will Look Like! Manish Sisodia Has Most Certainly DKODED The Big Idea!
In a recent press conference, Delhi’s Dy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia claimed that the Delhi Assembly Election of 2020 isn’t just between two parties but between two models of governance shaping the country’s future.
Kejriwal government’s education model is being appreciated everywhere. Event other states in India and countries are also adopting it. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia hailed the upcoming assembly election of Delhi as not just an ordinary election between two parties, but as one between two distinct models of shaping the country’s future. He said that this election will decide the future course of the country.
AAP’s education model is building the path to prosperity for children and the nation, BJP’s education model is ruining the future of India’s children. – Manish Sisodia, Dy Chief Minister, Delhi
Sisodia pointed to the significant and innovative measures adopted by the Arvind Kejriwal government to transform the education system and provide quality education to children. The Happiness and Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum is a decisive step in ensuring a more secure future for these students.
On the other hand, the education model of the BJP and Congress is mired in a dispute on whether the contribution of Gandhiji and Nehru should be taught in schools or not, and discussions on the existence of internet in the age of Mahabharata.
Elections to be fought on the basis of work
Delhi’s education minister Sisodia said, “We are reinforcing time and again that this election will be fought on the basis of work, particularly in the realm of education. This election is not just between two political parties but between two distinct visions for the future of our country. The AAP government has taken various initiatives to develop the education model with significant increase in the budget for education, establishing quality infrastructure and regular training to teachers, to improve the educational environment. But the most important difference we have made is in the delivery of quality education.”
Happiness and Entrepreneurship curriculum is helping the families of Delhi govt school students.
He said that the Kejriwal government’s interventions have raised the standards of education in Delhi government schools. It has created possibilities for a better future and prospects for students. Sisodia continued, “These interventions were made with a vision to improve the future of this country. We have worked hard to bring futuristic changes in the education model of Delhi and therefore, it is imperative that we compare the education models designed and delivered by AAP and by the BJP”.
The Happiness Curriculum
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia elaborated on the Happiness Curriculum in Delhi Govt.’s schools, “The Kejriwal government’s education model launched the Happiness Curriculum for students in nursery to grade 8 of government schools. Such was the visible impact of the curriculum on the psyche of the children within a year of its launch that several private schools of Delhi also launched this curriculum. The students tell us that they have become more diligent and serious about their studies and have started experiencing life-changing perspectives about themselves and the world. Teachers and parents are ecstatic that this curriculum has resulted in significant changes in the attitudes and demeanour of the children. Parents say that not only have the children become serious about their studies but that they are more respectful and compassionate towards family members and engage better on concerns within the family.”
Launched by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the effective curriculum is attracting interest from Education Ministers of almost 20 states (like Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra), including BJP-ruled states who wish to adopt the happiness curriculum. Ample proof that when AAP innovates and launches a curriculum, the whole nation and world follows it. Even the Education ministers of Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh have hailed the concept of the happiness curriculum. The former Chief Justice of India also praised the Happiness Curriculum and wished that such a course be implemented in the judiciary as well. He further said that if implemented across the nation, the rates of crime would go down significantly. These responses indicate the kind of scientific research and critical thinking that goes into the policies devised by AAP.
The Entrepreneurship Curriculum
“Our second biggest educational intervention was the entrepreneurship mindset curriculum. India’s current unemployment rate is increasing and worrisome. Nearly 2.5 lakh students pass out every year from Delhi schools. If all these students were to seek jobs, where are the opportunities for employment? That was the rationale for introducing this curriculum in grades 9 – 12. In less than a year, we have witnessed extremely positive effects of this curriculum,” said Sisodia.
He added that students are coming up with new business ideas. “One girl student told me how she and her brother have now started helping their parents’ business. Another objective of this curriculum was expanding the scope of the country’s economy. Children studying in Indian schools and colleges are tutored towards aspiring for jobs and salaries, whereas people in other countries also inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship. People living abroad set up large companies and our citizens are employed by these companies, drawing only a salary with the profit companies going to those countries, enhancing their economy. If we apply the Curriculum in our country, the child, whether in an IIT or a normal college, will come emerge with a flair for business and be able to combat the stress of unemployment and his or business will not just cater to their personal professional aspirations, but also contribute to the growth of the economy” he said.
Manish Sisodia said that under both these programs, each period consists of a 45-minute training module with a 5-min meditation segment.
A Comparison with BJP’s Model of Education
“AAP delivers the best education model currently available in the country. On the other hand, you have the education models of the BJP and Congress which stands out for its complete absence of any vision on quality of education. They are perpetually caught between whether to include references to Gandhiji and Nehru in the syllabus or not. BJP has now introduced a course in ‘BhootVidya’ in universities, focused on delivering training in curing mental illnesses in families through primitive methods like mantra-tantra and thrashing with chappals. Their education model is pondering on questions like whether the internet existed in the age of Mahabharata, whether ducks swimming creates oxygen in water or not etc. Whereas our model focuses on the future of the country and the growth of the individual,” said Sisodia.
Challenging the BJP he said, “I want to challenge the BJP to show me one positive program they have designed for the development of education which has received a positive response from every section of society or other states and countries. When we launch our programs, people from across the world take notice and praise our model of education and are inspired by it.”
