While 12 Lakh students were on a lookout for the “missing” ICAI President, Prafulla Chhajed was attending an event in the Middle East.
After the nationwide protests from 12 lakh aggrieved students, social media has been vocal in asking questions to the current ICAI President. A striking trend of ‘ICAI President missing’ took over the internet in India.
The students demanded justice for their fundamental right as Chartered Accountant aspirants. While these 12 Lakh students were up in arms raising questions for the missing President of ICAI at the Headquarters; Prafulla Chhajed was spotted in Dubai attending an event along with the Minister of Commerce, Piyush Goyal.
As reported by Zawya, the Chhajed was present at a session “India – Land of Opportunities” which also bid farewell for H.E Navdeep Suri, Ambassador of India to UAE.
In the session, the Indian Minister of Commerce, Piyush Goyal (who is also a Chartered Accountant) spoke about the role of CA professional in the strengthening of a nation.
Quite ironically, while CA students are sitting protests worried about their future, Union Minister Goyal recollected his days from the CA practical training and added that those values, principles, and ethics help him till date in performing his duties as a Minister. In conclusion, the address advised the members “to keep on moving and bringing the credibility of CA profession in India and beyond.”
ICAI President Prafulla Chhajed is set to address the media at 12 noon today.
