Puri done, next stop Rameshwaram!
Many elders acknowledged that even if they spent their own money, they couldn’t have bought the services offered during this pilgrimage to Puri. Happy and content with their visit, they blessed CM Arvind Kejriwal for fulfilling his duties as their ‘son’. They also demanded, as would from their ‘son’, that the next visit be organized to Rameshwaram. CM Kejriwal dutifully accepted.

The elderly pilgrims were not just appreciative of the opportunity to visit Puri. But also acknowledged the good work done by Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi, lovingly naming him as today’s ‘Shravan Kumar’. The Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Scheme is gaining popularity among elders
The scheme launched in December 2018, with 5 routes, is receiving a lot of interest from senior citizens. It has, over the months, included several more routes as well.
The scheme has no income criterion and any citizen of Delhi above 60 is eligible to apply. Delhi government pays for travel by 3 tier AC Train, pay for all meals, accommodation. It also provides guides and medical insurance. So far around 35,000 pilgrims have benefited from this scheme.
