Popular comedian Kunal Kamra has offered to fix up a debate between Home Minister Amit Shah and CPI(M) leader and youth icon Kanhaiya Kumar on the controversial CAA.
In a rally in Lucknow, India’s Home Minister Amit Shah challenged a few political stalwarts to have a debate with him on the Citizenship Amendment Act. The ones the BJP leader named were West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party Supremo Akhilesh Yadav.
HM Shah accused parties that are part of the resistance against CAA like INC, SP, BSP, and TMC of spreading ‘misinformation’. Shah dared the leaders to come and debate CAA with him as he had piloted the Bill in the Parliament.
Debate erupted on social media with many taking sides for and against the Home Minister Statements. Popular comedian Kunal Kamra tweeted offering to fix up a debate on CAA between Home Minister Amit Shah and CPI(M) leader and youth icon Kanhaiya Kumar. The tweet has since been liked by 36 thousand people and retweeted 9 thousand times.

Ex-Finance Minister of India and Congress senior leader P Chidambaram also took to twitter and asked the Home Minister if that is not what the opposition, jurists, academics, writers, artists, students and youth have been doing since 12 December. Chidambaram again dared PM Modi to select five of the most articulate critics of the controversial act and have a Q&A session with them.
The Home Minister in an address at an event in Lucknow had claimed that those who are protesting can keep on but the Act won’t be taken back. Meanwhile, protesters have kept up the resistance across cities where a number of sit-in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act inspired by Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh have also entered the scene.
