“Removal of Article 370 is the solution to all problems of Kashmir,” says Anupam Kher.
Almost turned politician, Anupam Kher in a media interaction at Kanpur asserted that all the issues in Kashmir can be resolved if Article 370 is removed. This reaction came when a question was asked that whether he thinks BJP will work for the Kashmiri Pandits or not?
Kher, known for his controversial statements is himself a Kashmiri Pandit and has regularly voiced his opinions and concerns when it comes to the prevailing issues that affect the valley. Also, the 64 year old actor is a staunch supporter of BJP and especially of Modi along with his wife Kiran Kher being a member of Parliament from BJP. He had campaigned extensively for her in Chandigarh constituency resulting in her second term.
- Article 370 grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir, while Article 35A was incorporated into the Constitution in 1954 which provides special rights and privileges to the citizens of the state.
- The BJP, in its manifesto for 2019 polls, reiterated its demand for abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution which are provisions specific to Jammu and Kashmir.
- Kher, remain in the limelight due to his controversial statements and remarks like he taunted Amir Khan on the intolerance issue, statements on the JNU row stating that ‘all those against the current regime are pests’ etc.
Kher, openly supporting BJP on various platforms also expresses his support to the party’ s manifesto which entails the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A. (ANI)
